College football is in full swing, and the games keep coming. It's only Friday, but there are a handful of college football games on TV tonight to get your football weekend off to a rocking start.
No. 22 Houston and No. 13 Texas Tech are about to meet in a huge showdown, with both teams entering their first Big 12 game without a loss. There is a lot riding on the outcome, too, as both programs are looking to establish themselves in the conference race and strengthen their postseason resumes.
This matchup also has some history behind it. The two schools have faced each other many times, but Texas Tech has controlled the series lately, winning seven straight and 13 of the past 14 meetings. That's not a close record. Houston has another reason to want this one after getting blown out 35-11 by the Red Raiders a year ago.
Houston's offense has already shown lots of firepower, putting up 77 points in its most recent game. Quarterback Conner Weigman, who is a highlight-reel machine, will have to stay composed in a difficult road environment, while the Cougars' offensive line faces a big challenge against Texas Tech's front.
The Red Raiders also bring a powerful ground attack, making the battle at the line of scrimmage especially important. Add in a Friday night crowd in Lubbock, and this has all the ingredients for a fascinating Big 12 opener.
