Angel Reese delivers historic WNBA performance as Dream keep rolling

Angel Reese is back after the FIBA World Cup and already making a statement. The Atlanta Dream forward is known for making big plays and notching WNBA history, and Thursday was no exception.

During Reese's game against the Connecticut Sun, the player became the first player in WNBA history to have 30 double-doubles in one season. That's an impressive feat that should give her bragging rights.

During the team's 103-59 win over the Sun, Reese scored 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting. She also notched 10 rebounds in 25 minutes of playing time.

Following the game, Dream head coach Karl Smesko gave Reese major props.

"The second half was much better, much more fluid," Smesko said, according to CBS Sports. "Obviously, Angel had a dominant performance tonight. It was fantastic, and everybody contributed all the way down."

Reese also talked about her big evening.

"I was joking in the locker room that I'm very well-rested, and I was ready to play today," Reese said, per CBS Sports. "Right now, it's important to make sure we're setting the tone and leaving a taste in everybody's mouth about what the playoffs are going to look like."

After the game, Reese also made a strong statement about this team going into the postseason.

"I believe we're going to go all the way," Reese said, per CBS Sports. "As long as we continue to focus on what's in our locker room, that's all that matters."

The game marked the WNBA's first matchup back since taking more than two weeks off for the FIBA World Cup. Reese, of course, and Team USA also made history there, scoring another gold record, making that five consecutive gold medals for the USA.
