Giants’ Bryce Eldridge misses a game after hitting his head at team hotel

Bryce Eldridge suffered an injury this week straight out of “Looney Tunes.”

The San Francisco Giants phenom Eldridge missed Friday night’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after experiencing a mishap at the team hotel. Giants manager Tony Vitello revealed to reporters that Eldridge hit his head on a low ceiling or passageway at the hotel before the game.

As a result, Eldridge was scratched from Friday’s game out of an abundance of caution but did manage to avoid concussion protocol. The Giants went on to lose to the Dodgers by a final score of 8-2 however.

Eldridge, 21, is perhaps the single most exciting young player on the San Francisco roster. He is in many ways the future of the Giants as a former first-round draft pick who was hitting .333 with a .963 OPS in Triple-A this season before being called up.

The lefty-hitting Eldridge has also been able to get some extended run in 2026 for the lowly 64-90 Giants. Over 107 appearances for San Francisco this year, Eldridge is batting .269 with 17 home runs and 57 RBIs.

But Eldridge also notably stands 6-foot-7. He quickly learned this week some of the drawbacks of being that tall, suffering one of the most unfortunate team hotel mishaps we have ever seen that did not involve a spider.
