Commanders reveal stance on adding another QB after Jayden Daniels' injury

The Washington Commanders already know Marcus Mariota will take over for Jayden Daniels this weekend. What happens behind Mariota, however, remains unsettled.

Dan Quinn revealed Monday that Washington isn't rushing to add another veteran quarterback while it waits for more information about Daniels' latest elbow injury.

Commanders waiting before making another quarterback move

Daniels underwent imaging Monday and is scheduled to meet with specialists Tuesday and Wednesday. Quinn said the Commanders aren't prepared to establish a recovery timeline until those evaluations are complete. 

That uncertainty also appears to be affecting Washington's plans at quarterback.

When Quinn was asked whether the Commanders could bring in another veteran to back up Mariota while Daniels is unavailable, he said that conversation hadn't happened yet.

“It's not something that AP and I have discussed today,” Quinn said. “I think we're going to wait till we get all the info, you know, over the next two days and really have a sense for what timelines and that kind of stuff it is.” 

Quinn added that the organization wants to take the time necessary to get the decision right. In the meantime, Mariota will start Sunday.
