Cubs' Alex Bregman notches multi-homer game a week after scary injury

Just one week after Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman experienced a scary injury, he marked a tremendous comeback by hitting two no-doubt home runs against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.

Bregman was hit by a foul ball during a game against the Cincinnati Reds, causing multiple facial fractures and a black eye. He avoided an IL stint.

Bregman hit a two-run blast in the top of the first inning Sunday, blasting his 27th home run of the season off of right-hander Tanner Houck. He then followed with a solo home run in the top of the third, giving Houck another taste of his power surge with his 28th home run of the season.

Alex Bregman is the true definition of a fierce competitor

His resiliency is massive and showcases his pride for the team, which clinched a postseason berth on Sept. 24 with a 2-1 victory over the Miami Marlins.

Bregman prepped for Sunday's game with the right equipment, wearing a helmet with dual protective C-flaps, allowing him to dominate with no fear at the plate.

His fearlessness is a compelling attribute that makes him a solid competitor. But most importantly, with the Cubs commencing the NL wild-card Series on Tuesday, he provides the team with a postseason weapon alongside NL MVP front-runner Pete Crow-Armstrong.
