It's a great time to be in the Windy City. The Chicago Bears just won another game, and they're 3-1 for the season. So far, nothing that's going on is pointing to the Bears being any less hot than they were last season, when they ended No. 1 in the NFC North.
So, Ben Johnson and company can be happy. But they should be even happier after they see how high they just moved up in ESPN's Power Rankings going into Week 5.
On Tuesday, ESPN's NFL power rankings dropped, taking into account the Week 4 games and looking ahead to Week 5. In the piece, the staff has the Bears going up three spots and into the top 10. That's huge. Remember, that's even with franchise quarterback Caleb Williams out with a hamstring injury. It doesn't get much better than that.
In the piece, Courtney Cronin of ESPN notes that with Williams out, "Case Keenum beat the Eagles handily, and Tyson Bagent enjoyed a thorough domination of the Jets."
She also notes that Chicago is No. 1 in "total yards, first downs and time of possession," and it has also notched the league's "best rushing offense" at 785 total yards.
"It's the cliché, next man up, certainly, but our guys, we know we have a lot of talent throughout this roster, from the front to the back end," Johnson said after the team's latest victory, per ESPN. "And so we always know we're going to have a chance each and every week."
So, get comfy, Bears fans, because this season could be a long one. By long, we mean going into the postseason.
