Change of plans for the Seattle Seahawks and running back Joe Mixon.
The Seahawks reportedly chose not to sign two-time Pro Bowler Mixon to their practice squad after he failed a physical on Tuesday. Mixon last played for the Houston Texans in 2024 and missed the 2025 season because of a foot/ankle issue. The report didn't say whether the failed medical exam was tied to the same injury.
The nixed Mixon signing leaves the Seahawks without a viable starting RB. Rookie Jadarian Price (chest) is on injured reserve. Zach Charbonnet (knee), meanwhile, is on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. Emanuel Wilson started at RB for Seattle in a 30-23 Week 4 home win over the Los Angeles Chargers, but he averaged a subpar 3.9 yards per carry (81 rushing yards on 21 carries).
Given that, the Seahawks should explore adding another RB. Perhaps they should consider trading for Tennessee Titans RB Tony Pollard.
The Titans (0-4) are one of five winless teams in the NFL and probably won't climb out of their early-season hole. Entering Week 5, Tennessee ranks second-to-last in the league in scoring (13.8 PPG) and last in yardage (261.3 YPG).
Since the team is tanking, the Titans may soon put their better players on the trade block. (The trade deadline is Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. ET.) Pollard would interest RB-needy teams.
He made his lone Pro Bowl appearance with the Dallas Cowboys in 2022 after rushing for a career-high nine touchdowns and 1,007 yards in 16 regular-season games and remains a solid back. This season, he ranks 20th in the league in rushing yards (221 on 54 carries) and has run for one TD.

Pollard is in the last year of a three-year, $21.75M deal and is set to make $6.74M in 2026. Even if he's a one-year rental for the Seahawks, trading for him would still be worthwhile.
Seattle, the defending Super Bowl champions, finds itself in the early championship mix after a 3-1 start. To become the ninth team to repeat as Super Bowl champions, the Seahawks must make bold moves, especially if that plugs one of their bigger roster holes. Acquiring Pollard clearly would.
