Injuries are really beginning to pile up for the Philadelphia Eagles, especially at the running back position.
Due to injuries to Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby, Philadelphia had just two running backs on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and they were Will Shipley and Dameon Pierce. Shipley exited the game in the first half, and the latest injury update suggests he may be forced to miss a bit of time.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Shipley suffered a partial tear of his plantar fascia on Sunday that could cause him to miss multiple weeks.
That means the top three Philly running backs, Barkley (hamstring), Bigsby (IR) and Shipley (plantar fascia), are currently sidelined with injuries. Shipley has carried 20 times this season for 57 yards with one touchdown, the first regular-season touchdown of his career.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, there is optimism that Barkley could soon be returning, which would certainly help the depth of the running back room.
Philadelphia not placing Barkley on IR meant that it felt that the hamstring injury wasn't going to be a long-term issue and that he would be able to return in a reasonable amount of time.
If Barkley is unable to return in Week 6, the Eagles would be ultra-thin at running back. It would be the aforementioned Pierce as the starter, with Carson Steele and Jaydon Blue as the second and third options.
Best-case scenario for Philadelphia would be a returning Barkley, but if that doesn't happen, an efficient ground attack could be hard to come by.
