No wonder the Jacksonville Jaguars traded all those picks to take cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter with pick No. 2 in the 2025 NFL Draft.
After selecting him, the Jaguars said Hunter could change the NFL's trajectory. We wouldn't go that far, but it's safe to say he's becoming a franchise-altering talent for Jacksonville.
On Sunday against the Texans in London, Hunter caught four passes for a season-high 59 yards and one touchdown. The score helped the Jaguars close the gap, cutting the deficit to 31-28 with 11:26 in the fourth quarter. He made another big play on the ensuing drive.
Hunter intercepted Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud in the end zone, snatching a potential touchdown away from wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson. The sequence helped Hunter join an exclusive club.

Per ESPN Insights, he became the first player since former Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins (a Pro Football Hall of Famer) in 2002 to record an interception and a TD catch in the same game. Coincidentally, it was also against the Texans.
Big day on both sides of the ball!

According to Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, only four players in the Super Bowl era (which began in 1966) have had an interception and TD catch in the same game: Hunter, Dawkins, former Arizona Cardinals star Roy Green (1981) and former Cleveland Browns linebacker Jim Houston (1966). Like Hunter, Green played both ways; he moonlighted as a safety and WR before converting to offense full-time in 1982.

The Jaguars lost 34-31, but Hunter's feat remains a major positive for the 4-2 squad. It signals that the former Colorado Buffaloes star is beginning to fulfill the franchise's vision.
Hunter now has more interceptions (two) and the same number of TD catches (one) as he did in 2025, when he was limited to seven games after suffering a season-ending knee injury.
The Jags traded four picks (including two first-rounders) to the Browns to draft Hunter. Many questioned that move after his underwhelming rookie season. However, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner is starting to show why many billed him as a generational talent when he entered the league.
