Former Michigan coach Biff Poggi still believes in Jim Harbaugh despite Chargers' putrid season

Somehow, someway, the Los Angeles Chargers are 0-6 entering the Week 7 bye. L.A. is one of two teams in the NFL yet to record a win, and the other is the Miami Dolphins.

The Chargers hired Mike McDaniel as the offensive coordinator this offseason, but the Justin Herbert-led group is underperforming in every aspect.

Jim Harbaugh's seat could be getting warmer, especially with a stunning winless start in what was expected to be a decent year for L.A.

Jim Harbaugh earns praise from Biff Poggi

With the Chargers' bye week underway, Harbaugh received a big endorsement from Biff Poggi.

Poggi had three separate stints as a coach with the Michigan Wolverines, two of them coming with Harbaugh as the head coach.

Poggi hopped on "The Jim Rome Show" and had some strong words for his former boss.

"The tougher things get, the better Jim is in those situations," Poggi said. "He's very optimistic. He loves the QB; he loves the football team. I think that they will turn it around.

"He's an elite, elite football coach," Poggi continued.

Poggi touched on the long list of Chargers injuries, and that certainly has been a recurring theme for L.A. in previous years.

Still, Poggi is confident Harbaugh will turn it around, although the path doesn't get easy right away for the Chargers.

After a Week 7 bye, L.A. faces the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens before a game against the New York Jets, and there is a realistic scenario where L.A. begins the season 0-9.
