Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski sets World Series record on first pitch of Game 1

There is no pitcher in Major League Baseball right now who throws harder and more consistently than Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski.

He demonstrated that again on Friday in the Brewers' 3-2 Game 1 win of the World Series, and he wasted no time in doing so.

Brewers Jacob Misiorowski sets World Series record on first pitch

Misiorowski's first pitch of the game to Yandy Diaz of the Tampa Bay Rays clocked in at 103.5 mph by the Statcast system, making it the fastest pitch ever recorded in a World Series game.

The pitch was taken for a ball, while Diaz eventually ended the at-bat with a flyout to deep right field.

Misiorowski's pitch broke the previous World Series record that was set by Aroldis Chapman in the 2016 World Series when he was pitching for the Chicago Cubs.

Along with an average four-seam fastball velocity of 100.6 during the season, Misiorowski threw 1,115 pitches in his season that exceeded 100 mph, setting a league record that doubled the previous mark.

He has not been quite as dominant in the playoffs as he was in the regular season, but still managed to throw five innings on Friday, allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out four batters and lowered his ERA to 2.70 for the postseason.
