Cincinnati stuns No. 8 Texas Tech to end Red Raiders' unbeaten season

Here we go again.

Another Saturday, another top-10 upset.

After the craziest week in college football history, Week 7, Week 8 kicked off with an early-morning shocker.

Previously unbeaten No. 8 Texas Tech (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) was stunned by unranked Cincinnati (5-2, 2-2), 37-24.

Cincinnati fans storm field after shocking win

The Bearcats won their first home win over a top-10 team since Nov. 18, 2006, when they defeated No. 7 Rutgers, 30-11. Cincinnati won at ninth-ranked Notre Dame in 2021.

Cole Tabb had a career-high 173 rushing yards and a touchdown while JC French IV threw for a career-high four touchdown passes in the Bearcats’ victory.

The Bearcats came in averaging 231 rushing yards. After having minus-six yards on the ground in the first quarter aided by a couple of sacks, they finished with 252 yards averaging 6.1 yards per carry.

The Red Raiders (6-1, 3-1) failed to go 7-0 for the first time since 2013. The Big 12 is now down to two unbeaten teams: No. 2 BYU (6-0), who's currently playing unranked UCF, and No. 10 Utah (6-0), who hosts No. 14 Houston late Saturday night.

The Bearcats are already looking forward to hosting Utah on Halloween night.

Cincinnati may be fined for storming the field

"Cincinnati could be fined, but it's not a certainty. The Big 12 handles its field-storming penalty on a case-by-case basis," said Jordan Mendoza of USA TODAY, via Yahoo Sports.

"The standard fine for a Big 12 member school whose fans storm the field after a game is $50,000, but the league office will review footage of the incident to see whether the visiting team and the game officials have a safe path off the field. It's different from the SEC, which has a strict fine system in place for field-storming incidents."

After that win, the Cincinnati officials are probably thinking, Who cares?
