Nikola Jokic has harsh message for Nuggets fans after boos

The Denver Nuggets earned their first win of the season with a 141-135 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in overtime on Saturday.

At one point in the game, boos came from inside Ball Arena in Denver, Colo.

In the end, Denver turned it around to escape with the win, but superstar Nikola Jokic had a strong message for the fans after the game.

“I think the fans that booed us are not welcome here anymore, if you ask me," Jokic said, via Jake Shapiro of Denver Sports. "If you guys follow us, you know that we never quit and we came back from much worse for similar situations.”

It's quite the message from Jokic, and the boos coming in the first home game were also a bit of a surprise. Some boos began to come in the second quarter with Denver trailing 45-26. At one point in the game, the Nuggets were down by 23 points, but they were able to figure out a way to win.

Jokic finished with 35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists as he is now 11 triple-doubles away from the NBA's record. Jamal Murray led the way with 42 points and six assists, and three other Nuggets players finished in double figures. Denver plays at home again on Monday night against the now-winless Golden State Warriors.
