Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski can join an elite list after earning the World Series-clinching win on Wednesday night. If Misiorowski wins the Cy Young Award as expected next month, he would become the first pitcher to accomplish that rare feat since Randy Johnson with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001.
Johnson earned the win in Game 6 of the 2001 World Series as a starter and in the title-clinching victory in Game 7. Bob Turley of the New York Yankees was the first pitcher to earn the Cy Young and a World Series clinching game in 1958. Turley won the Cy Young when only one was awarded throughout Major League Baseball.
Sandy Koufax was the second pitcher to win the Cy Young and a World Series-clinching win and the only one to do it twice in 1963 and 1965 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After Koufax, Steve Carlton with Philadelphia in 1980, Bret Saberhagen with Kansas City in 1985 and Orel Hershiser with the Dodgers in 1985 complete the list.
Of the pitchers to previously win the Cy Young Award and a World Series-clinching victory in the same season, Carlton and Koufax are the only ones enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Misiorowski just completed one of the most dominant seasons by a pitcher in MLB history.

Misiorowski won 16 games and lost five, with a 1.80 earned run average in 174.2 innings, 252 strikeouts, a .802 WHIP, a .157 batting average against, a .224 on-base percentage allowed, a .246 slugging percentage and a .470 OPS against.
Misiorowski will become the first pitcher to start and win a World Series clinching game and likely the Cy Young Award since Hershiser. In Game 5, Misiorowski pitched 5.2 innings before leaving with what was reported as cramps on the Fox broadcast. Misiorowski allowed two hits and a walk with two strikeouts to help Milwaukee clinch its first World Series title.
