Drew Mestemaker's draft stock is soaring, while Arch Manning's is sinking

If 2026 college football quarterbacks are stocks, Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning's has tumbled, while Oklahoma State Cowboys signal-caller Drew Mestemaker's has soared.

According to an Oct. 31 ESPN poll of 25 NFL scouts and executives, Mestemaker is the clear-cut favorite to be the first quarterback selected in next April's NFL Draft.

Scout: Drew Mestemaker "seems like the only real choice at this point"

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that one NFL scout said Mestemaker "seems like the only real choice at this point."

Mestemaker received 17 top votes in the midseason QB1 poll after receiving zero votes in the same poll taken in August.

Mestemaker has enjoyed a breakout season with Oklahoma State. The sophomore, who has drawn comparisons to Ryan Tannehill, has thrown for 2,326 yards and 20 touchdowns, along with six interceptions, this season.

Manning, meanwhile, has struggled in his senior season at Texas, throwing for just 1,507 yards and 12 touchdowns to go with seven interceptions.

His QB rating is a lowly 57.0 compared to Mestemaker's 78.1.

"Drew Mestemaker is the QB we were told Arch Manning would be"

For the rest of the poll, Notre Dame's CJ Carr received four votes, followed by Miami's Darian Mensah (three) and Oregon 's Dante Moore (one), who had 14 top votes in August.

Three other quarterbacks who received votes in August — Manning (seven), South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers (two) and LSU's Sam Leavitt (one) — had zero in the new poll.

Interestingly, Mississippi's Trinidad Chambliss, who is already being linked to the Arizona Cardinals (who currently hold the No. 8 pick), was not mentioned.

Following Tennessee's blockbuster trade of Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears, now's a good time to look at what the Titans might do with the 2027 first-round pick they received.

Every NFL mock draft will change drastically if Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is traded before the Nov. 10 deadline.
