Indiana makes quarterback change amid offensive struggles
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

The Indiana Hoosiers appear to have made a quarterback change after another rough day on offense.

The Hoosiers started the second half of Saturday’s game against Indiana with Grant Wilson in at quarterback. Starter Josh Hoover had taken a hard hit late in the first half.

Coach Curt Cignetti was asked about Hoover’s status at halftime, and simply replied “We’ll find out when we go out there.” He left it vague as to whether Hoover’s benching was performance-based or injury-related.

Hoover is a gamer, and he had been playing injured for a few weeks. However, few would have questioned Cignetti’s decision to sit him after his first half against Minnesota. The TCU transfer went 8/19 for 119 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Indiana’s offense has failed to score more than 20 points in each of their last three games coming into Saturday. A change was justifiable, whether it was forced on Cignetti or not.
