Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell stated the obvious about his team’s 30-0 beatdown at the hands of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The Badgers were dominated by the Hawkeyes in a matchup on Sunday at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, as the home team gave Fickell’s squad a 30-0 thumping.

Fickell summed it all up with a postgame quote.

“Well, that was an old-fashioned a-s-whipping,” Fickell said, via Pat Harty of HawkFanatic.com.  “It doesn’t feel good. It doesn’t feel good at all.”

Iowa has one of the best defenses in the nation, but it was clearly disappointing for Fickell to see his team end up a game without scoring any points. The Badgers moved the ball for just 235 total yards and committed three turnovers, while also going only 4/13 on third downs. Wisconsin had nine first downs to 20 by Iowa, which got 222 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 20/24 pass completions from quarterback Hank Brown.

The Badgers, on the other hand, saw starter Colton Joseph go for just 5/14 for 90 passing yards before getting pulled from the game for Ryan Hopkins. The freshman Hopkins wasn’t great either, passing for 93 yards with an interception on 8/13 passing.

Wisconsin, which was ranked at one point in the 2026 season, drops to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Big Ten play.
