The Minnesota Vikings entered Week 8 as the only unbeaten team in the NFL. Unlike most undefeated teams in previous years, Minnesota’s success was predicated on a potentially all-time great defense and controlling the ball on offense.
However, the passing offense has left much to be desired. Quarterback Kyler Murray, who Minnesota banished J.J. McCarthy for, hasn’t been remotely close to the player the team was expecting.
He is throwing for just 200.8 yards per game and only has five passing touchdowns with one of the best receivers of this century. Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson had a career-low 1,048 yards last season, and he’s on pace to finish with even less this season.
The connection with Murray simply hasn’t been there, and the star wideout appears to be getting frustrated. The Vikings lost 19-15 to the Detroit Lions on Sunday in a game where Jefferson had a season-low for receiving yards, 33, and a touchdown in a contest he started and finished.
Following the game, the former Offensive Player of the Year declined to speak to the media.
Vikings WR Justin Jefferson declined comment through team spokesperson.

It’s unclear why Jefferson didn’t speak after the game, but players normally only make that decision after a terrible game. While he definitely didn’t play up to his standards, he can’t control the number of targets he gets or how accurate the passes are.
Jefferson has been a good soldier in Minnesota at a position that is notorious for having outspoken players. He has never once complained about the team’s quarterback situations, but a man can only take so much.
The four-time Pro Bowler posted at least 1,400 yards in four of his first five seasons and is tied as the fastest player in league history to reach 5,000 career receiving yards. Jefferson was one of the most dominant pass-catchers ever in his first five seasons, but the quarterback play has been holding him back the last two years.
The Vikings should get the quarterback situation fixed quickly, or they could be at risk of Jefferson losing patience.
