After an improbable comeback win against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals are making a change at quarterback for the remainder of the season.

Gardner Minshew has been named the new starting quarterback

According to Cardinals head coach Mike LaFluer, veteran Gardner Minshew has been named the starting quarterback for Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Minshew replaced former starter Jacoby Brissett in Week 8 and was remarkable in the comeback win over Dallas. He completed 17-of-23 passes for 188 yards with three touchdowns and no turnovers. Brissett was benched after completing just 10 of 23 passes for 119 yards with an interception.

The performance from Minshew was good enough for LaFluer to make a move away from Brissett, who is earning $15 million this season.

Not only was Brissett demoted as the starting quarterback, but he was moved to emergency QB3 on the depth chart, falling beneath rookie Carson Beck, who has yet to play a snap this season.

Jacoby Brissett will likely become a trade target

With the move from QB1 to QB3, Brissett will likely become a trade candidate. It is clear that he has a bleak future with the Cardinals, so teams will likely begin calling about his availability.

Both the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings are teams that could use Brissett, both for different reasons. Baltimore is down to its third-string quarterback, Joe Fagnano, while Minnesota is 6-1 despite Kyler Murray being unable to be extremely productive in the pass game.

It will be intriguing to monitor the trade market throughout the week to see if anyone makes a move on Brissett. If not, it would likely take injuries to both Minshew and Beck for him to return to the field for the Cardinals this season.
