One of the NFL's most active agents is now involved in Brandon Aiyuk's comeback effort.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk is reportedly nearing an agreement with new representation as he works toward an NFL return.
San Francisco still controls his rights, though Aiyuk must first complete the league's reinstatement process.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Aiyuk has hired Drew Rosenhaus for representation.

Aiyuk hasn't played in the NFL since Oct. 2024, when he suffered a significant knee injury that involved tearing his ACL, MCL, and meniscus.
Rosenhaus is one of the NFL's most prominent agents and represents a large number of high-profile players through Rosenhaus Sports.
Hiring Rosenhaus would be a notable move for Aiyuk. Few agents are more connected across the NFL, and Rosenhaus has built a reputation for representing some of the league's biggest stars while navigating complex contract negotiations and career crossroads.
Not long ago, Aiyuk was one of the NFL's rising stars, rewarded with a lucrative extension after helping power the 49ers to a Super Bowl run. Since suffering a major knee injury, however, his relationship with the organization unraveled. He lost significant guaranteed money, moved on from his agent, openly challenged members of San Francisco's leadership, and settled near Washington while eyeing a fresh start.
The cost of chasing an NFL return
In an in-depth piece published by The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar on Oct. 19, "Brandon Aiyuk was a star receiver with a $120M contract. Now he’s the NFL’s biggest enigma"
Shawn-Dugar wrote, "In July, he [Aiyuk] told The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala he was the missing piece to Washington’s roster, then announced the purchase of a $10 million home near the Commanders’ practice facility."
It was one of the clearest public signals yet that Aiyuk had already begun envisioning his future in Washington, going beyond mere speculation and putting down roots in the area.
Shawn-Dugar also spoke with a former 49ers teammate, who was granted anonymity due to the sensitivity of the topic. The former teammate believes Aiyuk's recent actions reflect a strong desire to return to the NFL:
"What I see is that he really wants to get back in," the ex-49ers teammate said. "That's what the antics show to me: It shows he's desperate."
The word "desperate" can carry a negative connotation; injuries, disputes, and uncertainty have threatened to derail everything he built. If Aiyuk is acting out of desperation, it may simply reflect how much he still believes he belongs on an NFL field.
