Jets 'have not had any serious internal discussions' about trading Breece Hall amid rise of Braelon Allen

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown in the club's 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders that dropped the Jets to 2-6 on Sunday afternoon.

Allen served as the Jets' primary ball-carrier as first-choice option Breece Hall missed a fifth straight game due to a quadriceps injury. Some previously suggested that the Jets could make Hall available ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline amid the rise of Allen, but it appears that no such move will materialize over the next week.

Jets want Breece Hall, Braelon Allen to be a top-tier duo

"Allen’s emergence, along with some timely cryptic social media posts by Hall, connected hypothetical dots he was on his way out," NFL insider Connor Hughes of SNY shared on Sunday evening. "Regardless, the Jets, to this point, have not had any serious internal discussions about moving Hall. They view Hall and Allen as two players capable of forming one of the NFL’s best running back duos."

This past spring, the Jets signed Hall to a three-year deal reportedly worth up to $47.75M. However, ESPN stats show that Allen began Monday ranked 10th in the league with 565 rushing yards on the campaign. Over eight games this season, he has accumulated three rushing touchdowns. Such numbers suggest the third-year pro could serve as the Jets' RB1 in the event that the club receives a noteworthy offer for Hall.

As for the Jets, it seems like it will be a matter of when, not if, team owner Woody Johnson fires head coach Aaron Glenn. A future head coach may not mind being gifted with an extra draft pick or two via a trade of Hall, but Hughes said that a deal involving the 25-year-old is "not anticipated."

Breece Hall remains "an important part" of the Jets

"He’s an important part of what we’re doing, what we’re building," Glenn said about Hall after Sunday's loss. Meanwhile, Hughes added that fans shouldn't "expect much from the Jets ahead of the trade deadline."

Hughes' line would lead one to believe that Hall will still be on the Jets' roster when Gang Green plays at the 5-2 Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 8. As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had New York as a 10-point road underdog for that game.
