Week 10 of the college football season is shaping up to be one of the most chaotic of the entire season.
The week will feature a season-high seven Top 25 matchups, but none may be bigger than No. 1 Miami traveling to South Bend to take on No. 11 Notre Dame.
Several contenders for the Heisman Trophy will be involved in the showdown between Miami and Notre Dame. One of those contenders, though, got a worrisome update Wednesday surrounding his game status on Saturday.
According to ESPN's college football insider Pete Thamel, Miami's star receiver Malachi Toney is dealing with an ankle injury that has his status for Saturday's game up in the air.
According to college football insider Pete Nakos, the injury happened at Wednesday's practice when Toney rolled his ankle. No game status has been announced yet and Toney is reportedly pushing to suit up and attempt to play.

Sources tell @On3 that Malachi Toney rolled his ankle in practice today and is undergoing further testing. He's pushing to play Saturday at Notre Dame and has not been ruled out yet. https://t.co/F8ISuipUE9 https://t.co/Q1KTBklB9b

Toney has been one of the top receivers in the country this season and his impact cannot be overstated. He leads Miami in catches (73), yards (1,027) and touchdowns (14). All of those stats are far and away the best of any Miami receiver, something that cannot be replicated if he is unable to play.
If there is a silver lining, it's that Miami has taken care of business thus far and can afford a loss to Notre Dame. The chances of Miami knocking off the Fighting Irish diminish greatly without the threat of Toney in the pass game, however.
If Toney is unable to go on Saturday, the main priority will become making sure he is fully healthy for the ACC Championship Game and College Football Playoff run that Miami hopes to go on.
