Zero videos are such a major part of skateboarding culture. From Thrill of it All to Misled Youth, Dying to Live, New Blood, Strange World—the list goes on. But for an entire generation of skateboarders, Dying to Live made a huge impact on many of our lives, which is why this exclusive collection Zero just dropped is pretty exciting.
As the caption mentions, the collection features "the never before seen ‘full’ version of the DTL skull," which again, is pretty rad. The Dying to Live skull resides rent free in mind. I will never forget buying the VHS tape (along with the classic TransWorld video, In Bloom) at a skate shop in Arizona during Christmas back in 2003. I was 13 and both videos were on full rotation for the next 10+ years. (I still have both/watch both to this day!)
The soundtrack itself brings me back to a special time in my life, along with literally every single part. I loved that era of Zero. They were untouchable!
Also, I just have to say—I know this collection features a "never before seen" look at the full Dying to Live skull that blessed the box art of the VHS, but I feel like I remember seeing a shirt with that skull in the early 2000s. Back when their shirts had that classic Tum Yeto tag.
But I guess that's really here nor there, right!? Any other Zero fans remember that?
At any rate, this collection hits super close to home and I'll certainly be taking part in this limited drop. I know Misled Youth is at the top of most "favorite skate video" lists, but for me personally, Dying to Live is one peg up.
The collection features a few boards, tees and hoodies and they're heavily nostalgic. Despite what era you grew up skating in, I think the love for classic Zero videos is a universal feeling in skateboarding. And since you're here, watch Dying to Live below:
