This Sunday, legendary skate photographer (and one of TransWorld SKATEboarding's founding fathers) J. Grant Brittain is hosting his latest solo show, Landline, in San Diego.
Running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Coffee and Tea Collective in North Park, the exhibit will feature an incredible selection of Brittain’s most iconic photos from San Diego’s skate scene between 1990 and 1999. Expect some familiar faces, legendary flicks, and a heavy dose of San Diego skate history.
Grant's photo shows are known for their welcoming, laid-back vibes—part show, part community hangout. And if you ever have the chance to pick his brain and score a few stories from the legendary lensman, do it.
I love that Grant is still out there to this day getting down and dirty on the edges of pool coping, major contests, street missions and random sessions at Poods park all the same.
His photos have always captured moments—not just tricks—and he was right there on the front lines while this whole thing we know as skateboarding was evolving. He's captured some of skate history's wildest moments over the past few decades. I mean, honestly, he's made a lot of that history. But that stretch between 1990-1999 is absolutely timeless. There are going to be some serious gems in the mix.
Peep the flyer above for all the nitty-gritty details, and if you're in the area, get there!
