We talk about progression in skateboarding all the time, but this is just ridiculous.
Legendary Brazilian skater, Sandro Dias recently eyed up the 20-story CAFF building in Porto Alegre, and somehow got the okay to make it his own personal ramp. Just typing that sounds sort of crazy, if I'm being honest, but the clip itself seriously looks more like a video game than real-life.
You know how people say, "A video just doesn't do it justice." Well, this video from @leosaballa gives it plenty of justice, so I can't even imagine what this would've looked like to witness in person. Take a look:
Alright, before we go any further, I just have so many questions. How did Sandro think of this in the first place? This has to be the biggest drop-in on a skateboard ever, right? Does he need to wear specific clothes? (Check below to see the bail... I can't imagine sliding down all that cement)? And honestly, what kind of setup is Sandro riding?
I've seen "mega ramp" setups, but I feel like you'd need the widest trucks and board ever to make it down that beast successfully. I don't know. This is literally jaw-dropping. Anyways, peep the first attempt below. Is this the sketchiest knee-slide ever!? Might be.
What's even crazier is that this is supposedly just the "test run" for the real thing. What!?
Yep, that's right—what looks like a once-in-a-lifetime attempt is apparently just him feeling things out before the real deal. I can't help but laugh. Absolutely insane.
We have to give Sandro some serious props here. The way he handles all that speed and control on something that steep—that gigantic—is beyond comprehension.
I'm personally on the edge of my seat waiting for the real attempt. But whether that goes down or not hardly matters. Sandro has always been in a league of his own and this wild moment only further cements him as one of the greats.
