At Mount Bohemia, Michigan, the ski season didn’t last quite as long as hoped.

The resort announced in a recent Instagram post that Sunday, April 26, had been the final day of winter operations. Originally, the ski area planned to make it until May 10 because of a “huge [snow] base” heading into April. But the ground never froze, Mount Bohemia wrote, adding that it “was insulated and once it warmed up the melting was way faster than normal.”

Still, Mount Bohemia hung in there for more than 130 days after opening on December 6, 2025, making for a longer season than most other Midwest mountains.

The off-the-beaten-path ski area is known for its deep snow and steep terrain. This past winter did nothing to change that reputation. By the season’s end, Mount Bohemia had tallied 360 inches. For context, that’s more than some classic powder haunts saw this winter, like Alta Ski Area.

“Thanks to all the employees, ski patrol, and passholders who made it up this year,” Mount Bohemia wrote at the end of its message.

This doesn’t mark the end of Michigan’s ski season, though.

At Boyne Mountain, the Victor “Glacier”—a towering pile of snow purpose-made for late-season skiing—is still 15 feet deep. The snow coats the titular Victor trail and is set to serve as a May skiing hotspot going forward. In a recent snow report, Boyne Mountain noted that the prospect of weekend skiing next month is “looking good.”

Now, the question is how long Boyne Mountain will push it.

Elsewhere, the ski season continues at other resorts where you might not expect it, thanks to snowmaking. Pennsylvania’s Camelback Resort seems to be going strong, and hinted, in a recent social media post, that May skiing could be on the calendar.

“We MAY have some news to share later this week,” the resort teased.

A similar story is unfolding at New Hampshire’s Black Mountain, which wrote, in a snow report, that “the season is far from over” following an unconventional springtime snowmaking push.
