A 22-year-old passed away at Thredbo Resort in Australia last week. The skier was later identified as Sean Forrest, who was a student at University of Queensland.

Following an event at the UniSport Snow Nationals, Forrest died in a crash while skiing advanced terrain in the Front Valley terrain park. A spokesperson from the resort told 9News Australia that emergency services were engaged with Threbdo Ski Patrol, and a Thredbo medical center doctor was on scene quickly.

Forrest's high school, Brisbane Grammar School, and his University ski club offered condolences and recounted Forrest fondly. He is remembered by his high school as a 'talented and versatile sportsman,' who excelled in rowing, chess, fencing, rugby, and cross country." In his final year, he was a form senior and was much-admired by the junior boys he cared for. His big heart, ability to light up a room and passion to help others made him a wonderful teammate and an even better friend. The school shares its deepest condolences with Sean's parents Michael Forrest and Angie Ryan, his two brothers Jude and Dominic, and their extended family and friends," continued the statement.

The University of Queensland Ski and Snowsports Society will hold a drop-in space in remembrance of Forrest on Friday, September 5. "Sean was a pillar of the UQ Ski community. He was someone who constantly uplifeted those around him with his compassion. He had a smile and energy that was infectious, and he was always there for you when you needed him. Sean left a positive impact on all of our lives and his legacy will continue within in the club for many years to come," read a post by the UQ Ski & Snowsports Society.

POWDER extends its deepest condolences to Forrest's friends, family, and all those affected by the tragedy.
