There's a reason Arapahoe Basin, Colorado has earned the nickname 'May Basin,' and this year is no exception.

A-Basin received seven inches of snow throughout Tuesday, May 6, and another four inches between 5 a.m. and noon on May 7, 2025. Temperatures have stayed in the mid-20's and low 30s making for soft, winter-like turns and conditions. There's a dusting still in the forecast through the weekend with totals in the 1-2" range, but things should stay soft and fresh enough for some all time May skiing.

A-Basin has yet to announce a closing date and will spin lifts as long as there's snow. In previous years, the mountain's high elevation and north facing terrain has allowed it to stay open through the 4th of July.

A-Basin's events calendar is teeming with good times through the rest of the month for you to enjoy with all your spring turns. The Shakin' at the Basin concert series will continue through the month with live music at the base of the mountain just about every weekend.

For those in Summit County or near the front range, please go enjoy some of this glorious May powder for the rest of us who are having trouble letting go of ski season.

On May 10, the mountain hosts it's annual Slush N' Spokes race. For those who have already broken out their mountain bikes for the season, Slush N' Spokes is a human-powered downhill bike race on whatever slushy, snowy surface mother nature has to offer. The race starts on the High Noon ski run and fastest to the bottom without sliding out in the slush wins.

May 17 & 18 is the mountain's 4th annual pride ski weekend coined 'Gay Basin'. The weekend is jam packed with live music, dancing, skiing, and après celebrations for the LGBTQIA+ community in and around Summit County. The weekend kicks off with a pride parade from A-Basin's summit, which at this rate, could make for some epic powder turns.

Festival of the Brewpubs also returns to A Basin on May 25 so you can upgrade your après trying some of Colorado's best craft beer. Just $40 gets you a mug, entry to the festival, and unlimited tastings.
