Red Lodge Mountain, Montana is now offering a "rare opportunity" to own a piece of ski history that skiers have used for decades.
"A couple" surplus chairs from their Miami Beach chairlift, plus surplus chairs from the Stache Express Chairlift, originally the Sunnyside Lift at Alta, UT, which operated since 1973, are now being offered up for sale online.
Although the Miami Beach chairs are now sold out, the Stache Chairs are still up for grabs. All buyers need to do is simply add their ski lift chair to their cart on Red Lodge's shopping website. Officials at Red Lodge say, "these vintage chairs offer a unique charm, perfect for transforming your home or garden into a nostalgic retreat."
For $1,800, you can pick up one of these chairs from the mountain from 9am to 5pm beginning Labor Day Weekend Aug. 31 - Sept. 2, 2024. After Sept. 2, these chairs are able to be picked up at the mountain weekdays (Monday thru Friday) from 8am to 4pm.
Officials at Red Lodge advise bringing a team to move the chair, writing, "these chairs require at least two or more people to load into your vehicle."
All chairs are sold as is and all sales are final, if anyone has buyer's remorse about spending almost two grand on an old chair. Why would you, though? It is a piece of ski history, plus, it's actually functional.
If anyone has questions or wants to make pickup arrangements, they are advised to email Troy Hawks, Sales and Marketing Director.
