The Ikon Pass has boosted the total number of participating locations by adding another ski resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe, California, ahead of the 2024-2025 ski season.
Next winter, Ikon Pass holders will have access to seven days at Sierra-at-Tahoe with no blackout dates, and Ikon Base Pass holders will have access to five days, with select blackout dates. The Ikon Pass and Ikon Base Pass currently cost $1,359 and $969, respectively.
Ikon Pass users can now access 60 resorts (including a heli benefit destination) spanning 11 countries, five continents, and 17 states.
Located in the southern portion of the ski resort dense Lake Tahoe, California, area, Sierra-at-Tahoe's known for its welcoming vibe, sculpted learning terrain, and amphitheater-style terrain parks, and South Lake Tahoe’s only Halfpipe. It’s the closest mountain destination to Sacramento, California. In 2021, 80 percent of Sierra-at-Tahoe burned during the devastating Caldor Fire. Since then, the resort has bounced back after removing trees and conducting repairs.
Sold by the Alterra Mountain Company—a ski resort conglomerate—the Ikon Pass already has a foothold in Lake Tahoe with Palisades Tahoe. There, Ikon Pass holders get unlimited ski days without blackout dates.
“We are excited to expand Ikon Pass access in California by offering even more in the Tahoe area,” said Erik Forsell, Chief Marketing Officer, Alterra Mountain Company. “Sierra-at-Tahoe is an ideal fit for the Ikon Pass community with its big snow and welcoming vibe. Now, Ikon Pass holders have access to both sides of Lake Tahoe with Sierra-at-Tahoe and Palisades Tahoe”
Another new addition to Alterra Mountain Company’s pass program: Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, will now be available on the Ikon Base Pass, offering five-day access with select blackouts.
The Epic Pass, the Ikon Pass’ primary competitor, provides unlimited, unrestricted access to 42 resorts. In total, there are 86 resorts worldwide available with the Epic Pass.
