Snowboarder Still Missing Days After Vail Mountain Disappearance

A snowboarder who disappeared at Vail Mountain, Colorado, on February 14 is still missing.

The snowboarder, a 26-year-old Denver-area resident named Connor Gill, was reported missing to the Vail Communication Center on the afternoon of February 14,v 2025.

Sergeant Bob Silva, with the Eagle County Sheriff's Office, told Denver7 that Gill last scanned at a chairlift around 8:50 a.m. on February 14 and was riding towards the Avanti route area around the time of his disappearance.

He was reportedly wearing an orange ski suit that had blue accents on the top part, a grey helmet, Smith goggles, and riding on a Salomon snowboard. Silva added that Gill is an intermediate snowboarder with brown hair and eyes who stands at 6 feet tall.

Search teams "initiated their response based on the parties last known location and knowing the area commonly rode by the missing individual," the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said in a statement last updated on February 17.

Numerous organizations were involved in the search, including Vail Mountain Rescue Group, Eagle County Sheriff's Office, Vail Police Department, Vail Mountain Ski Patrol, and Vail Communication Center.

Gill disappeared as significant winter storm buffeted Vail Mountain.

During the weekend, Vail Mountain shared on social media that it had received 16 inches of snow in 24 hours. By Sunday, the 48-hour snowfall total had climbed to 27 inches. Now, the resort's seven-day snowfall total is above 50 inches.

One search and rescue team member said that it was snowing heavily in the Avanti area on Saturday, creating limited visibility, Silva told Denver7. The team used dogs for the search, but they struggled through the fresh snow. The stormy conditions also prevented the use of drones and helicopters on Saturday.

As of Sunday, search teams were continuing to look in the Avanti Express area and Game Creek Bowl, as cell phone forensics suggested that Gill was last located in these areas, the Vail Daily reports.

Local authorities have been reviewing security camera footage in the town of Vail to find new information about Gill's whereabouts, Denver7 reports.
