The opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Milano-Cortina Italy is underway and the GOAT of Team USA's alpine skiing team is pumped.

Taking to X on Friday morning, Mikhaela Shiffrin - a two-time Olympic gold medalist and widely considered one of the best alpine skiers ever - shared how ready she was for the opening ceremony. She shared an image of herself wearing Team USA gear while posing for the camera.

"So excited for all my @TeamUSA teammates walking in the OC tonight. Can’t wait to watch and cheer. Let the Games begin!" she wrote on X.

After failing to medal at any of the events in the 2022 Winter Olympics, the 30-year-old alpine skier is back with a vengeance in Italy. She's slated to compete in her three best events - slalom, giant slalom and team combined.

Shiffrin won her first gold medal in Russia back in 2014 for the slalom at the age of 18. Four years later she took gold in the giant slalom and silver in the combined.

Shiffrin is one of the most accomplished alpine skiers in history. Bursting onto the World Cup scene as a teenager, Shiffrin won her first race at just 17 years old and quickly established dominance in slalom, where her precision and consistency set new standards. She became a two-time Olympic gold medalist (2014 slalom, 2018 giant slalom) and a multiple-time world champion, while also capturing five overall World Cup titles, tying and surpassing milestones once thought untouchable in modern skiing.

What truly separates Shiffrin is her versatility and longevity. Over her career, she has won World Cup races in all six alpine disciplines, shattering the all-time wins record. Her career has also included resilience through personal hardship and injury, with notable comebacks that further cemented her reputation as one of the best ever.

To date, Shiffrin boasts 108 combined gold medals in World Cup races plus another 58 combined silver and bronze.
