Momentum's famous summer skiing programs have gone on an indefinite hiatus.
In a blog post shared Friday, Momentum said that Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia, had confirmed that it could no longer maintain summer operations on the Horstman Glacier for the foreseeable future.
That glacier, historically, has been where Momentum hosted its skiing summer camps.

The suspension of operations was caused by the impacts of snowpack and glacial recession on safety and lift access, the blog post said.
Momentum's summer camps are a historic freeskiing fixture. Its campers have gone on to become World Cup, X-Games, and Olympic contenders after spending the summer months training amidst the slushy snow found on the Horstman Glacier, which sits high on Blackcomb Mountain. What started with 43 campers 32 years ago grew to 1,200 in 2023.
Here's a look at the type of action that would go down on the Horstman Glacier during Momentum's tenure.
The camp's previous coaches are a veritable who's-who of freeskiing royalty, including the likes of Nick Goepper, James "Woodsy" Woods, and Phil Casabon.
"The fun, the friendships, the camaraderie, and the memories will last forever. We will miss all of you—the campers, staff, and our legendary pro coaches—who have shaped generations of athletes," the blog post reads.
This summer will be the second in a row that Momentum hasn't hosted camps on the Horstman Glacier. Last April, skiing that coming summer on the glacier was canceled because of low snowfall.
Amidst that closure, which appeared only to be a temporary, single-season setback, Momentum's director told Pique News in 2024 that reengineering the Horstman Glacier's T-bar lift could allow it to function when there's less snow. He also presented snowmaking as another fix.
The extent to which those specific approaches are being discussed wasn't made clear in Momentum's latest blog post, but the camp said that it is "actively working with Whistler Blackcomb to explore long-term solutions to bring summer skiing back."
"While still in the exploratory phase, we are optimistic and will keep you updated as discussions progress," the blog post added.
In the meantime, Momentum is hosting two camps in May—one for all ages and one for only adults. The camps feature moguls, park, hybrid, all-mountain, and snowboard programs. They follow Momentum's traditional summer format with all-inclusive (hotel, meals, and activities) and coaching-only options available.
South of Whistler Blackcomb, at Timberline Lodge, Oregon, Windells remains one of North America's major summer ski camp providers. Its youth sessions begin June 15th. Reservations for Colorado's Woodward Copper Summer Camp are now available, too.
