Sorry not sorry for writing this in a ski publication, but the most magical time of the year is just days away at Whistler Blackcomb! It's bike park season, baby!!!

Merry Whismas to everyone who enjoys summer on two wheels! The Whistler Bike Park will open for the season on May 16, 2025, a day affectionally called Whismas due to the celebratory nature of the day. If you think skiing at Whistler Blackcomb is magical, wait until you ride the bike park.

With 4,900 vertical feet of lift-accessed trails, you'll get a plenty good work out in without pedaling. The park has 112 trails split into four main zones serviced by four lifts; Fitzsimmons, Garbanzo, Creekside, and Peak.

Between scary tech lines like 1199, massive jumps on trails like Dirt Merchant, and the most wonderful machine-cut flow trails like A-Line and C-More, Whistler has trails for every type of rider. You can also take Peak Express up and ride the technical Top of the World trail from the top of Whistler Mountain down into the Creekside Zone.

The Fitzsimmons zone will be the first to open and Whistler will provide updates on which trails will be available closer to opening day.

Blackcomb Mountain is also open until May 19 for skiing and snowboarding, which makes Whistler one of the rare places you can get lift-accessed skiing and bike riding in the same day.

Bike park passes are on sale now with Unlimited passes starting at $829 CAD. There are also 10-Day and 5-Day options for $635 CAD and $399 CAD respectively as well as the Twilight Pass, which allows riding every day after 4:30pm for $399 CAD.

In my opinion, one of the best ways to enjoy the Whistler Bike Park is during Crankworx World Tour's Whistler stop, which takes place from August 8-17 2025 this year. Races like the Garbanzo DH, Canadian Open DH, and dual slalom all take place throughout the week.

There's also the annual Whip Off where some of the world's best freeriders session a jump trying to whip to 90 degrees and bring it back, and often throw a lot of other cool tricks. The final diamond stop of the FMB World Tour, Red Bull Joyride, takes place at the end of Crankworx Whistler, and is one of the best displays of slopestyle riding around.

Crankworx can definitely be a bit chaotic so if you're looking for a quiet week at the Whistler Bike Park, maybe avoid that week to ride. But if you're looking for one of the bike industry's biggest parties and the chance to take a lap with some of the best riders in the world, definitely check it out.
