Brian Head, a ski area in southern Utah, will finish the 2025-2026 season with 159 days of winter and one of the longest seasons in the state. Brian Head was the first resort in the state to open for the season on November 21, 2025.
Daily operations will end this Sunday, April 26, 2026. Brian Head will reopen for one more bonus weekend on May 2 and 3, 2026.
Costumes are encouraged for closing days in May. A live DJ will perform at the Giant Steps Lodge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A group photo will be taken at the top of the Giant Steps Life, and prizes will be given away. Those prizes include lift tickets, a one-night stay at Brian Head Lodge, and a weekday season pass.
Brian Head received 135” of snowfall this winter. As of April 24, 2026, there are 12 of 71 trails open and two of eight lifts spinning. The National Weather Service has forecasted snow showers through Sunday with up to 5” of accumulation possible by Monday morning.
Located just 40 minutes from Cedar City, Brian Head has gotten more than its fair share of storms this spring.
Brian Head is one of four ski areas still open in Utah. Alta is still open, even though we're not allowed to go there. Snowbird and Brighton are still open as well. Snowbird received another 2" of snowfall just today.
Brian Head currently has a base depth of 24".
