Step On bindings have already made strides toward making snowboarding accessible. Now an aftermarket accessory designed by a snowboarding legend will help riders get out as fast as they can.

The Pro Standard Push Button Quick Release is designed for riders with mobility issues or those looking for an extra layer of security in the backcountry. The device attaches to the release lever on the heelside of the binding and offers an extended lever that sits at the top of the highback. The idea is that you can push the quick-release binding down, and pop out of your binding as quickly as you got into it.

The quick-release button can be raised or lowered to the appropriate height, and it’s compatible with every version of Step Ons. To install it, all you need is a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver.

When you’re in the backcountry, there can be situations where you need to get out of your board as quickly as possible. That was the inspiration for the Push Button Quick Release came from.

“It was designed to make it as easy as humanly possible to get out of your bindings if you end up in a tree well or in a situation that makes it hard or impossible to reach your ankle,” the website says.

The device was invented by legendary snowboarder Ken Achenbach and 2010 halfpipe world champion Justin Lamoureux. Stock is “very limited” and the first shipment will arrive in December. The device is available for preorder now. A single device costs $39, and a pair will be $69. You can order them here.

This is the fourth invention from Achenbach, Lamoureux, and the rest of the team at Pro Standard. The team has previously dreamed up several different GoPro camera mounts that are backed by big names in the fishing, surfing, mountain biking, skateboarding, and snowboarding industries. The Manboys Crew. Chris Rasman, Rob Kingwill, and Mark Sollers.

Achenbach has a number of inventions that have helped shape the snowboard industry. The twintip snowboard, baseless bindings, and other changes surrounding boot, clothing, and helmet design are all listed in his biography page.
