Morgan Gibbs-White might just head for exit doors in the coming months as Tottenham reignite interest

Tottenham managed to save face by ending the latest transfer window on a high. However, it is fair to say that the Lilywhites did manage to embarrass themselves on more than one occasion as they continued their search for a new #10. Everything that could go wrong for the North London club, did go wrong as Daniel Levy faced a backlash from the Spurs faithful.

The Lilywhites were on the cusp of signing Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest in July. Spurs triggered the England international’s release clause, as well as, set up a medical for the player to complete as he was keen to move to N17. But disaster struck later, as Forest accused the North London club of breaching the confidential contractual details of Gibbs-White’s contract.

After a lot of back and forth between both clubs, Morgan Gibbs-White ended up staying put at City Ground for the time being. To make matters worse, the England international also ended up signing a long-term contract extension at Forest, leaving Daniel Levy with nothing but an egg on his face.

Tottenham pushing to sign Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White in January

Well, it was reported earlier that Tottenham are not planning to give up in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White. The Lilywhites are looking to lure the England international to N17 again, despite him signing a new contract extension at City Ground. However, it might not be as easy as it sounds for the North London club as Forest would not entertain any bids for his signature.

Now, Bryan King believes that missing out on the 25-year-old might just be a blessing in disguise for Spurs. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,

“If I were Tottenham, I’d draw a line under their pursuit after confusion like that over a simple move for a player. I’m not 100% certain that Gibbs-White is even the right player for Spurs. If he had wanted to join Tottenham, it would have happened.”

The ex-scout added,

“I think there’s more there than perhaps meets the eye. He’s not going to win you the league title. So, Tottenham have got to start looking for players who are.”

Bryan King has urged Tottenham to end their pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White as the player does not seem keen to join the club. Not only that, but the ex-scout also believes that the England international is not the right player for the Lilywhites. King adds that the 25-year-old is not going to be a key factor in winning a major trophy, and there are other players in the market that are better than him.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Gibbs-White. Signing for Spurs will certainly be a massive step-up for the England international, as it will give him a platform to showcase his talents on the biggest stages regularly. The 25-year-old would also get to play under Thomas Frank and develop his game even further.
