5 BEST Wonderkids in the Liverpool Academy

At just 16 years of age, Joshua Abe has burst onto the scene for Liverpool’s U18s team. A monstrously talented winger, his goalscoring abilities from the flanks are frightening.

Very quick and physically gifted, he loves to drive into the area, cutting inside on his left foot and rattling off accurate shots on goal.

He was extremely effective for the Reds in the U18s Premier League last season, scoring an eyebrow-raising eight goals in ten games, alongside three assists. One to watch.

Alvin Ayman

A solid, consistent left-back, Alvin Ayman has shown a maturity well beyond his years during his first few seasons in the U18s Premier League.

Very technically gifted, he can also function effectively as a central midfielder, where he is able to dictate the tempo and keep things moving.

All in all, we think Ayman is amongst the most underrated youngsters currently plying their trade in the Liverpool academy. Could be a dark horse in the future.

Joshua Sonni-Lambie

Another brilliant goalscorer, Joshua Sonni-Lambie can play anywhere across the front three. Primarily a striker, his pliability allows him to also take on both wide roles.

His record in front of goal for the U18s is astonishing. Last season, Sonni-Lambie scored 16 goals in 21 games in the U18s Premier League, racking up a single assist along the way.

Hard-working, physically dominant and very composed, Sonni-Lambie could be a long-term answer to Liverpool’s striker problems in the future.

Keyrol Figueroa

The son of former Hull City and Wigan Athletic full-back Maynor Figueroa, Keyrol Figueroa is a very different player to his old man.

A natural striker, he made some serious waves in the U21 Premier League last season, scoring an impressive 11 goals over the course of 14 games.

His extensive talents have been wholeheartedly recognised by his native Honduras, who handed him his first senior cap at the age of just 19.

Kieran Morrison

Kieran Morrison is perhaps the best U20 player in Liverpool’s academy at the moment. He generally plays on the right, cutting inside on his preferred left foot, but he can also play as an attacking midfielder or as a central midfielder.

He made a strong impression earlier in his development in the U18 Premier League, but has begun to really shine in the U21 Premier League. Last season, he found the back of the net 14 times in 18 appearances.

Like Figueroa, he has also been handed his first international cap, having played for Northern Ireland’s senior team against Guinea. Interestingly, he started life in Manchester United’s youth academy – now, he is Liverpool through and through.
