We all have our favourite wonderkids in the world of football. Today, we’ll be ranking five of the best who are currently signed to clubs in the Premier League.
For the purposes of this list, we will only be looking at players aged 21 or under. Anyone who is older than this threshold won’t be taken into consideration.
Additionally, we’ll be excluding any player who aren’t currently at their parent clubs. For example, as Ethan Nwaneri is currently out on loan at Marseille, he isn’t eligible for inclusion in this list.
One of the best young defenders in the world, Myles Lewis-Skelly is an incredibly well-rounded footballer despite being just 19 years of age. He is a joy to watch on the ball – his exception technical ability allows him to play as a central midfield, as well as a full-back.
He has struggled for gametime this season at Arsenal, having made just two Premier League starts for the Gunners all season. This isn’t his fault – Mikel Arteta likes his full-backs to be physically robust and tall, which Lewis-Skelly is not.
This doesn’t mean he can’t have a glittering future, though. Arteta will nuture his development carefully – he won’t want to run him into the ground before he reaches his prime.
Like Lewis-Skelly, Nico O’Reilly is also a very talented young full-back who can fill in as central midfield player. Unlike Lewis-Skelly, however, O’Reilly has been afforded plenty of playing time this season to show the world what he can do.
At just 20 years old, O’Reilly has made his mark both for Manchester City and on the international stage for England. He won his first cap for the Three Lions in 2025, having previous played for his country at various youth levels.
An adaptable player with plenty of strings to his bow, O’Reilly’s skillset is among the most complete in this entire list.
Kobbie Mainoo’s star had begun to fade under the stewardship of Ruben Amorim, but he has shown renewed vigour and confidence since Michael Carrick took hold of the reins at Old Trafford.
A fantastic passer of the ball, Mainoo can open up a defence with ease. He is green in certain areas, such as his positioning, but he will pick this up in time.
A fully-fledged member of the England team, expect Mainoo to make a splash at the 2026 World Cup for the Three Lions.
Max Dowman is the youngest player on our list at just 16 years of age – as such, he has had the least amount of time to show his skills. Regardless, we certainly like what we’ve seen so far.
His magnetic dribbling ability is a joy to watch. His confidence on the ball borders on arrogance – as a swashbuckling attacking player, this sort of attitude is a neccesity to success.
He has made a couple of appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners, notching up a smart assist during this time – who knows how far this young man can go?
Estevao is among the youngest players in this list – likewise, he probably has the most potential out of the whole lot of them. He has already made a major impact at Chelsea, despite being just 18 years of age.
An exciting wde player, Estevao is a throwback to classic Brazilian wingers such as Rivaldo and Jairzinho. He has no problem with taking players on, unlike many modern attacking player.
Estevao has already carved out a spot in Chelsea’s first team, even with stars like Alejandro Garnacho, Pedro Neto and Jamie Gittens to contend with. The sky is the limit for this young man – can the Blues hold onto him?
