Attendances have always been a contentious subject within opposing sets of Premier League fans. It’s a way for rivals to try and get a leg up on one another – but which clubs have had the highest average attendances in the Premier League this season?
Generally, contemporary success and stadium size are the two main factors behind attendances numbers. Do the clubs in this list follow this rule? Let’s take a look.
No one should be surprised to see Arsenal on a list such as this. Four of the five clubs in this piece belong to the ‘big six’ – the Gunners are the first of the bunch.
So far this season, Arsenal have accumulated an average attendance figure of 60,216 this season – it’s very rare that you’ll see the Emirates Stadium not be full-to-busting on a match day.
With Arsenal leading the pack in the Premier League table, they’ve repaid the fans’ faith in kind this year. Can they win their first league title since 2004 at the end of the season?
The Anfield faithful always turn out in droves when Liverpool are playing at home. The Reds are one of the biggest clubs in the world – their inclusion in a list of this ilk is a real no-brainer.
With an average attendance of 60,395, the fans in the stands have consistently played their part – even if the players on the pitch haven’t always returned the favour in 2025/26.
Liverpool are fifth in the Premier League table, despite having won the league last season. It has been a disappointing campaign for the Reds, but the fans have shown up in massive numbers regardless.
If Liverpool have let their fans down this season, then Tottenham Hotspur have outright betrayed theirs. Spurs’ current relegation plight has been well-documented – despite having enormous attendances in the current campaign, they sit 18th in the league table.
The fans have consistently displayed their discontent over the way their season is going, but have still managed to generate huge numbers – they have an average attendance of 60,393 in 2025/26.
Tottenham definitely deserve better – if they are relegated, which looks increasingly likely, one hopes it will serve as a massive wake-up call to the board.
West Ham United are the only club outside of the ‘big six’ to land a spot on this list. Much of this comes down to the size of their ground – the London Stadium has a capacity of over 68,000.
They have filled it out quite nicely, too – despite being embroiled in a tense relegation scrap, West Ham have an average attendance of 62,453.
The Hammers have been languishing in the relegation zone for some time now, but they have recently hoisted themselves away from danger. Many Hammers fans are not fans of this new ground – they much preferred the imtimidating intimacy of Upton Park. Well, you can’t please everyone.
Are Manchester United the biggest club in England? If their average attendances are anything to go by, the answer is an emphatic ‘yes’.
With an average home attendance of 73,891 at Old Trafford this season, United top the pile by a considerable distance – even if they haven’t always been particularly impressive during the current campaign (especially under the stewardship of Ruben Amorim).
Old Trafford is the biggest stadium in the Premier League – their average attendance is higher than any other stadium’s maximum capacity. Until a bigger ground is constructed, United will continue to top lists of this ilk year upon year.
