5 WONDERKIDS in the Tottenham Academy

We’re bending the rules a little by putting Mason Melia in here. He only joined Tottenham’s academy recently, having left St. Pat’s Athletic in the most recent January transfer window to make the jump to the Lilywhites, but he still fits within our parameters.

Regardless, Melia is still a very exciting talent. Before turning 18, he had already become one of the top players in the Irish Premier Division.

He was injured when he arrived at Spurs, but immediately scored upon his return from injury – his drive to succeed is everything you need to know.

Malachi Hardy

Towering defender Malachi Hardy has been a part of England’s youth setup since he was 15 years of age – this, alone, should tell you everything you need to know.

Composed on the ball and technically skilled, Hardy can do anything you would want out of a modern centre-half. He copes well under pressure, both with and without the ball.

He is also very strong, being able to muscle attacking players off the ball with little effort. At 6ft 2, he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Jun’ai Byfield

Jun’ai Byfield is only 17 years of age, but already has his spot in the Spurs U21s team. Players don’t get fast tracked like that for no reason – he’s clearly very highly rated by the Tottenham hierarchy.

Another highly-rated centre-back, he has already made a few appearances for Spurs’ senior team. Byfield has played once in the Premier League and twice in the Champions League, both from the bench.

Very comfortable when in possession and a ferocious presence when defending his box, expect big things from him in the not-too-distant future.

Callum Olusesi

Callum Olusesi is a very adaptable midfielder who can both score and create goals, whilst also dictating the tempo of any game he is in.

Not only is he ever-present for Spurs’ U18 and U21 teams, he has also been a part of the England youth setup since 2022, when he was 15 years old.

While he is most comfortable in central midfield, he can also function effectively as a defensive midfielder or even as an attacking midfielder.

Luca Williams-Barnett

Luca Williams-Barnett is perhaps the most exciting talent in the Spurs academy today. A prolific attacking midfielder, he scored six goals and racked up five assists in the U21 Premier League last season.
