Tottenham signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham could lead to Richarlison leaving the club this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bolster Thomas Frank’s attacking options during the summer window after he replaced Ange Postecoglou, with the club heading for the Champions League following their Europa League win in May.

Spurs have been in concrete negotiations with West Ham United over the signing of Mohammed Kudus of late. The versatile attacker has a £85m release clause written into his contract, but that clause only runs until July 10. However, it’s believed that the Hammers would be willing to negotiate a deal for less than that, with some reports suggesting they want around £65m.

The Lilywhites have already seen two bids rejected for the Ghanaian international, who is expected to leave the London Stadium this summer as West Ham look to raise funds for a squad rebuild under manager Graham Potter.

Kudus has emerged as a top target for Thomas Frank, and his addition to the Dane’s roster could lead to an exit from White Hart Lane. According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Richarlison is ready to end his stay at Tottenham if Kudus arrives this summer.

Richarlison has had a tough time in North London since arriving from Everton back in 2022. The versatile forward moved to Spurs amid a lot of fanfare but has failed to live up to lofty expectations due to a glut of injury problems. Last season wasn’t different either, as the Brazilian barely managed to make an impact in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Richarlison is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham

There has been widespread speculation about the 28-year-old’s exit for some time now. Everton have shown an interest in re-signing him, whereas links with Saudi Pro League barely look to die down.

Turkish champions Galatasaray have also been keen on the services of Richarlison of late. Thomas Frank has already greenlighted the South American’s exit, and it looks like the potential addition of Kudus would accelerate that.

Fabrizio Romano makes third Mohammed Kudus bid claim

Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Sunday that Tottenham are set to table a third bid for Kudus very soon. Frank has already approved the move, and the African star is eager to make the switch across the capital.

Kudus was a revelation in the Premier League during the 2023/24 season, registering 14 goals and nine assists in 45 appearances for West Ham. His numbers dipped in the second season, yet, he was one of their better performers as Potter’s side finished in the bottom half of the PL table.

The Ghanaian international is attracted to the prospect of playing in the Champions League next season and is thus pushing for a move to Spurs. If the 24-year-old arrives to N17, Richarlison must seek a move elsewhere to bolster his hopes of making to the Brazil squad for next summer’s World Cup.
