Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali has snapped back a bit at Chelsea fans by declaring, ‘six months ago everyone was super-happy.’
I mean, some fans might have been. But for the majority, I think they have never truly been happy under this ownership and truly backing this model.
For sure, there has been some flip-flopping amongst some of the fan base. They were certainly pretty positive in general when we won the Club World Cup. But for many, they just saw that as papering over the cracks.
Even still, these words from Eghbali will not go down too well with the fan base, a fan base that is planning to protest against the ownership in numbers this coming Saturday ahead of the Manchester United game.
In words quoted by The Athletic this week, Eghbali said:
“For the fans, we care. We want the club to be successful. We’re focused on delivering that on-pitch performance. I think six months ago everyone was super-happy. Results have been mixed, disappointing more recently. There’s a full reflection on what we can do better, what we can improve on.”
Liam Rosenior has been asked about Enzo Fernandez’s return to Chelsea’s squad and whether it had caused any problems with the group. The Blues boss has given a half-hearted reply…
There is a sense that everything at Chelsea is broken from top to bottom, and when you see it listed it’s pretty stark. Henry Winter lists it all here.
