André Cury, the representative of Ederson, not so subtly suggested that his client’s time at Atalanta is about to come to an end. He recently talked to Cadena SER.
“It’s an opportunity because his contract is expiring. His side didn’t want to sell him despite very high offers. I think they will do it in this January window or in the summer. They wanted a lot of money, €60/75M. He is close to the end of his deal, so they could cut the price in half, to €30/40M.”
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the contract of Ederson is up in 2027, and there’s no renewal in sight, which will likely force Atalanta to cave. Considering his agent’s aggressiveness, La Dea, like Napoli for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, risks the activation of FIFA’s dreaded article 17, which grants over-28 players a rescission in certain circumstances.
Per Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), Inter have been keen for a long time, but the Ademola Lookman saga has rendered other operations between the two sides impossible. Manchester United were after the ace a year ago. There’s plenty of interest from Saudi Arabia, too.
While La Dea doesn’t get their arm twisted by agents, the expiration date is a real factor, and they’ll have to cash in if they have no shot to re-up. They’d get maximum profit in January, but, unlike in other instances, they don’t have an heir in waiting, as Yunus Musah hasn’t panned out so far. They’d have the dough to find one afterward, though. As for his suitors, Juventus and Napoli should be all over him, but the Orobici have been reluctant to do business with their potential rivals recently.
