Alejandro Garnacho attracts interest from La Liga clubs

Alejandro Garnacho is already attracting interest from La Liga clubs as his difficult start to life at Aston Villa continues.

There was a time when Garnacho seemed destined to spend years lighting up Old Trafford.

Fearless with the ball and always willing to attack his full-back, he carried the kind of unpredictability Manchester United supporters have traditionally demanded from their wingers.

His bicycle kick against Everton became an iconic moment, while scoring against Manchester City in the 2024 FA Cup final showed he could deliver when the stage was at its biggest.

Yet his United story eventually unravelled.

Garnacho left for Chelsea in 2025.

However, one season at Stamford Bridge was enough for another change of scenery, with Aston Villa taking him on loan this summer.

The move offered Garnacho another chance to rediscover the confidence and directness which made him so exciting in Manchester.

Instead, opportunities have been painfully limited.

According to the Daily Mail, clubs in La Liga are now monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation closely after he played just 31 competitive minutes for Villa under Unai Emery.

Garnacho is yet to start and has been an unused substitute in Villa’s last two matches.

Competition has become unexpectedly fierce too, with George Hemmings making significant progress while Emi Buendia, Ibrahim Mbaye and Alysson are also competing for opportunities.

Emery has publicly urged Garnacho to keep working, admitting the winger is currently behind other players following circumstances during pre-season.

There is no suggestion yet that Villa, Chelsea or Garnacho are looking to change the arrangement.

His season-long loan is set to become a permanent £43million transfer if certain conditions are reached.

However, interest from Spain carries an obvious connection.

Garnacho was born in Madrid and developed at Atletico Madrid before United brought him to England aged 16.

Villa’s international-break training camp in Seville could now provide Garnacho with an important opportunity.

His talent has never been difficult to see; the challenge is forcing his way back onto the pitch.
