Alejandro Garnacho has had a rough time since leaving Manchester United last summer.

His Old Trafford exit came on the back of his public falling out with then-manager Ruben Amorim, who wanted him out of his squad.

Amorim placed Garnacho in a “bomb squad”, joining Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony as four players who were left out of team training to be sold last summer.

Garnacho ultimately left United to Chelsea for £40 million, a new club record as United’s most expensive sale of an academy graduate.

However, his time at Chelsea hasn’t gone to plan, with the former Argentina international now once again missing pre-season training.

The Athletic has reported that Garnacho was given permission to miss the start of team training ahead of the 2026/27 season, to instead work on getting a transfer over the line.

His authorised absence only echoes recent comments from new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso who confirmed the club’s hierarchy, and Garancho are on the same page about him leaving this summer.

It’s known that AS Roma hold the winger in high regard, having tabled a loan offer with an obligation to buy at the end of the loan.

AS such, the £34 million bid for Garnacho, is understood to consist of a £4 million loan deal and a £30 million obligation to buy.

However, Roma are also looking to West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville as an alternate option, with his £40 million release clause now available after The Hammers were relegated.

That said, the Italian giants have only sent a bid for Garnacho at this time, suggesting he is their first-choice target.
