Alejandro Garnacho prevents PSG attacker from joining Aston Villa

Alejandro Garnacho only completed his move to Aston Villa last week.

The deal brought an end to a difficult spell at Chelsea.

The former Manchester United winger will now hope to rediscover the form that made him one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents before leaving Old Trafford.

Villa have acted aggressively in the transfer market this summer.

They have already sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans to United.

Meanwhile, one of Paris Saint-Germain’s most exciting attackers has continued to impress in France and at the World Cup after establishing himself among the European champions’ attacking options.

He has been tipped for a huge future and had attracted serious interest from across Europe.

However Garnacho’s arrival at Villa Park ended up changing everything.

Alejandro Garnacho’s role in derailing PSG forward’s Aston Villa transfer

According to journalist Romain Molina, PSG attacker Ibrahim Mbaye had wanted to join Aston Villa before Jorge Mendes became involved in his future.

Molina claims that Villa had reached an agreement with PSG worth around €30 million plus bonuses for the highly-rated 18-year-old with the Midlands club identified as the player’s preferred destination.

However, the journalist alleges that Mendes instead sent Garnacho to Villa after taking over matters relating to Mbaye’s future, despite never having spoken directly to the player himself.

As a result, the proposed move for Mbaye did not materialise.

Molina also claims that the Senegal international has endured a turbulent year, with PSG deciding they no longer wanted to keep him following concerns surrounding his attitude and the influence of his family.

The report further alleges that Mbaye has changed his representation three times within the last year, creating uncertainty around his future as several clubs reassessed their interest.

While Garnacho is now preparing for the new Premier League season with Aston Villa, Ibrahim Mbaye’s next destination remains uncertain despite previously appearing destined for Villa Park.
