Saturday’s reports confirm that Massimiliano Allegri did not request a bonus clause in his contract in the event that Milan qualify for the Champions League next season, as the new head coach feels that that should be a given for the Rossoneri.
Allegri was officially announced as the new head coach of Mila n on Friday, following the sacking of Sergio Conceicao, which was officially confirmed on Thursday.
The 57-year-old returns to Milan after 11 years away, and has reportedly signed a two-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Allegri did not request a Champions League qualification bonus in his contractual negotiations with Milan. That is because he feels that the Rossoneri should be finishing in the Serie A top four as a minimum.
Instead, Allegri has one performance-related bonus in his contract in San Siro, which will be activated in the event that Milan win the Serie A title.
Milan will only be involved in the league and domestic cup competitions in 2025-26 after finishing the 2024-25 season in eighth place, which was not enough to qualify for any of the Conference League, Europa League or Champions League.
