Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly eager to speak with Mike Maignan to convince him to snub a move to Chelsea and extend his contract with the Rossoneri.
New Milan coach Allegri wants to keep hold of Maignan and is prepared to speak with the French goalkeeper to convince him to stay at San Siro.
Football Italia exclusively reported that Maignan was eager to join Chelsea amid stalled contract talks with the Rossoneri.
However, Chelsea are prepared to send an offer of just €15m, at least €10m below Milan’s asking price.
Calciomercato.com confirms that Allegri doesn’t want to part company with Maignan and has already asked director Igli Tare to resume contract talks with the goalkeeper whose deal runs out in June 2026.
According to the report, the Tuscan coach is ready to speak with the France international to convince him to stay at San Siro beyond the summer, with a leading role on and off the pitch and his captain status confirmed.
Maignan joined Milan from Lille in 2021 in a €16m deal.
He won the Serie A title in 2021-22 and has made 163 appearances with the Rossoneri, keeping 59 clean sheets.
