Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation continues to develop as the club prepares for further changes between the posts.
The arrival of Senne Lammens last summer significantly altered the competition for the starting role at Old Trafford.
With Lammens establishing himself as the preferred option, several questions remain over the futures of other goalkeepers.
One player whose next move is being closely watched is Andre Onana.
The Cameroon international could now be heading towards a second spell away from Manchester.
Andre Onana has accepted Trabzonspor’s financial demands as the Turkish club pushes to secure another loan deal for the Manchester United goalkeeper, as reported by A Spor via X.
Onana dropped down the pecking order following Lammens’ arrival and made the move to Trabzonspor in September 2025 in search of regular first-team football.
His performances in Turkey have convinced the club that they want to keep him, with negotiations now progressing between all parties.
According to A Spor, Trabzonspor have moved closer to extending Onana’s stay after the goalkeeper agreed to their proposed financial package.
The exact structure of the agreement remains unclear, with discussions ongoing over whether a future purchase clause could be included in a potential new loan arrangement.
The next step will be reaching an agreement with Manchester United, who still hold the goalkeeper’s registration.
Onana’s current contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028, meaning a further loan spell would leave him with one year remaining if he returned to United after next season.
Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has previously made it clear that the club are determined to find a solution and has continued to speak positively about their negotiations.
Dogan said, “We speak with Onana every day,” he said.
“We won’t have any financial difficulties. We’ll make the necessary sacrifices. I don’t think we will experience any setbacks.
“But if we do, we will find another goalkeeper of the same quality.”
For Manchester United, the situation could allow them to continue reshaping their goalkeeper department, with Onana’s long-term future appearing increasingly uncertain.
